Hello. In this project we were told to construct our own plankton. The objective is to make it neutrally buoyant. This means we need it to float in the middle.
(If you go to my scrams you will find out most of the info about phytoplankton because i did an article on it)
Here are a few easy questions that I will answer for you:
Key Words:
Zooplankton: These are plankton that feed off of other phytoplankton.
Flagella: The tail to a sperm.
Photic zone: The "well lit" part of the water.
Here are a few easy questions that I will answer for you:
- What are plankton? Plankton are small little algae that provide food for other animals in the ocean. They sit at the surface of the water for sunlight.
- What do plankton eat? Plankton eat other vegetation in the water.
- Where would they want to hang out? The plankton hang out on the surface of the water. Why do they do this you may ask? They stay at the top because the sun is closer and they can photosynthesize.

Here you can see a picture of my plankton that my partner and I made. It is pretty creative but not really good at floating, at all. Well actually it sunk right when we dropped it in. We tried.
